  • ‘Despite being new to anti-wrinkle treatments, Wendy calmed all my fears and reassured me that definitely ‘less is more’! As you’d expect from someone so highly professionally trained, the procedure was fully and carefully explained, and carried out to very high (and painless) standards. What’s more Wendy is friendly, approachable, and very easy to get along with. Would highly recommend’

FAQs

  • Different treatments suit different people. The lines you have developed may respond to improving skin health with Resurfacing treatments or WOW Fusion. Or you can explore a variety of injectable treatments such as: Profhilo, muscle relaxation (Botox), or dermal fillers.

  • There is growing evidence that dermal fillers cause myomodulation – meaning that product placed adjacent to muscle can alter that muscle’s activity. Alternatively, Botox (more properly known as Botulinum Toxin A) works by blocking the release of acetyl choline, the neurotransmitter responsible for muscle contraction. When injected into a specific muscle, Botox causes the muscle fibres to relax, giving the skin a smoother, flatter appearance. These changes are only temporary as the muscle regains its action over the course of 2-3 months.

  • Treatment involves targeted injections into specific areas: our facial muscles work in groups to elevate or depress structures and it is imperative that injections are not only balanced, but tailored to the individual according to the pattern of lines that has developed. Following treatment, it is best to avoid strenuous exercise for 4 hours, but otherwise you can resume normal daily activities. You will begin to notice effects of the treatment within 4-10 days, and we always make a review appointment at 2 weeks at which any adjustments can be made.  Full assessment and treatment takes 30 minutes, and injections are virtually pain-free.

  • You can usually expect the effects to last around 3 months. This will vary from one person to the next, and depends on individual genetics, muscle mass, dose injected as well as skin quality.

  • The greatest benefit to be seen is from treating the forehead, glabellar (frown lines) and lateral canthal lines (crows feet) to give a refreshed, brighter look. But improvement can also be achieved in other areas of the face (enhancing the upper lip, lifting the brows, slimming the face, softening smokers lines), as well as for platysmal (neck) bands, and conditions such as bruxism (teeth grinding) and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

  • Absolutely not! Facial muscles are essential for us to express our feelings and emotions, so whatever your treatment, we aim to soften those lines whilst still retaining natural movement.  Where muscle relaxation is used, dilution is important - we use a particularly concentrated form of Botox®, and administer tiny doses in order to achieve individually tailored results. Our goal is to refresh your look, whilst retaining expression. Many practitioners use a more dilute solution but this risks spread of the product, causing paralysis of adjacent, non-targeted muscles, and possible under-correction of the desired treatment area.

  • Transient swelling or tenderness will settle within an hour of treatment. Some people suffer a mild headache for the first 48 hours, and occasionally bruising occurs which may last up to 10 days. Rarely, asymmetry or drooping of the eyebrow or eyelid (ptosis) results. This is temporary and can usually be rectified at 2 week review.

  • We are all unique, and the ‘one size fits all’ approach does not work. For this reason, at The Lodsworth Clinic, we take an holistic approach, treating the whole face rather than itemising different chargeable areas. See our price list for different options – each including full assessment, treatment, and a review at 2 weeks with adjustment if needed.
