FAQs

  • Our skin is so important! The outer layer (epidermis) is waterproof, protecting us from the elements: from infection, mechanical and thermal injury, as well as reducing the harmful effects of UV radiation. The dermis beneath provides the strength and elasticity; with receptors to detect pressure, pain and heat; and blood vessels, hair follicles, sweat and sebaceous glands to regulate our temperature.

  • As we age, our skin – the most visible indicator of age – undergoes changes, both naturally (intrinsic) and due to environmental exposure such as UV radiation (extrinsic). The epidermis thins, and our cells become less efficient, producing less collagen, less elastin and less hyaluronic acid. The result is tired looking, dry skin, with laxity, fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Unfortunately, skin changes develop sooner in women than in men due to the decreased protective effects of oestrogen during the menopause. Skin becomes lax, wrinkles develop, and it becomes noticeably more dry and sometimes itchy, with a reduction in both sebaceous secretions and ceramide production. We help many women around this age to regain brighter, fresher skin, when their pre-existing products no longer meet their needs.

  • Your 60 minute consultation gives us a chance to help you to understand your skin. To appreciate how it behaves, what bothers you most, and importantly – find you a routine that suits your lifestyle, and your budget. You will be sent a questionnaire to complete in advance, then we will put you through our state-of-the-art Opatra skin scanner. This captures multispectral images of your face allowing us to examine in detail everything from pore size and hydration, to collagen, texture and sun damage. We will carry out a mini ‘consultation facial’ and from there, suggest active ingredients that will help, and in-clinic treatments that can work alongside.

  • Teens often find their skin flares up as a result of excess sebum produced when hormones are in a state of flux. Sometime over-the-counter products will suffice, but frequently we get better outcomes with a more personalised approach, controlling break-outs before scarring can set in.

  • We are experienced in treating a wide range of different skin types, including rosacea or sensitive skin, acne and scarring, premature ageing or dull skin, dry sun damaged areas and hyperpigmentation. The skincare we use is extremely versatile meaning we can tailor a treatment plan specifically to you and your needs.

  • We work with pHformula: the first pharma-cosmeceutical brand offering controlled delivery of powerful active ingredients to the skin, which stimulate collagen production and cell regeneration. The home-care products are targeted to treat a number of conditions such as acne, ageing skin, hyperpigmentation, and chronic redness. They prepare, optimise and maintain the results of the in-clinic skin resurfacing treatments, and can be tailored specifically to your needs.
