Guy has developed a portfolio career over the past 20 years, taking medicine to each of his favourite pastimes! Be it skin surgery or urology, racing or rugby, Guy sets his standards high and always strives to deliver the best possible care.
Guy loves to make a difference, and prides himself on excellent aesthetic outcomes. Many harmless dermatological lesions are no longer covered within the NHS setting but they can be unsightly or detrimental to your confidence. Offering this service at The Lodsworth Clinic, by a straight-talking, highly trained medical professional means you can be assured of a simple resolution, performed safely and effectively, in order that you can get on with the important things in life!

Many small skin lesions such as skin tags, keratoses, warts and benign (non-cancerous) moles can be assessed and treated in a single consultation. Depending on the anatomical site and size, removing lesions involves a small minor operation performed under local anaesthetic. If during your assessment the doctor identifies any suspicious lesions you will be advised how to have these checked.

We are registered to undertake Jockey Medicals for Horse Racing in line with the guidelines set out by the British Horseracing Authority (BHA). The BHA is responsible for setting and enforcing these standards of medical care for jockeys across all licence types, including point to point and Arab racing.
With a background in General Practice and racing, as well as holding an amateur licence, Dr Guy Mitchell fully understands the demands of the sport, and can offer flexible times to suit. Medicals can only be undertaken by a doctor with access on the day to the NHS GP Medical Records summary.

The Lodsworth Clinic is a registered British Horseracing Authority (BHA) Concussion Assessment Centre.
Here we offer assessment across the full concussion management process, from baseline cognitive testing, trackside diagnosis and care through to post-injury follow-up, assessment and treatment and return-to-riding clearance. The assessments are carried out by our nurse specialist Anna Harrison, or Dr Guy Mitchell.

More about Dr Guy Mitchell
Guy completed his medical training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London in 1998. He then undertook 6 years of surgical training working in hospitals throughout West Sussex and Western Australia, before settling into General Practice at Pulborough Medical Group (PMG) where he was a partner for 12 years.
During this time, he extended his role, putting his surgical training to good use in primary care. He works for Sussex Community Dermatology Clinic and continues to undertake many of the minor skin surgical procedures at PMG. He is also an experienced vasectomy surgeon setting up the local service from Pulborough, and works as a Specialist Doctor in Urology at St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester.
His other main passion is sport, and he is a Racecourse Medical Doctor at Ascot, Windsor and Goodwood Racetracks. He works for the British Horse-racing Authority (BHA) and is a Team Doctor for Harlequins Rugby Club. He is experienced in pitch-side care, and concussion assessment, working regularly at both local and professional level.
He believes fundamentally that we should protect our sportsmen and women enabling them to fulfil their career aspirations whilst optimising their personal wellbeing and long-term health. He is a member of the British Association of Sports and Exercise Medicine.
Guy enjoys endurance sports including cycling, running and triathlons. In 2018 he became a member of the Club des Cingles du Mont Ventoux (cycling 3 ascents of Ventoux in one day!). He holds an amateur jockey licence, and rides out regularly for local trainer George Baker. He recently became the UK's first one-eyed jockey to ride a winner, doing so on home turf at Goodwood.
